Did you know that VUWSA puts aside some funding to support our Student roopu. We know how important it is to have some extra help with expenses to make your projects, workshops or events a reality.
There are some conditions and a limit to how much we can provide for each grant, but we aim to give a helping hand to our amazing tauira. These are new grants for us and we are here to support you, so don't hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance or have any questions!

The VUWSA Trust Grants provide financial capability for events promoting cultural connection, advocacy work and activism. This is an opportunity for VUWSA – Te Aka Tauira x Ngāi Tauira to develop and invest in relationships with other rōpū. This will offer accessible and transformative funding.
Tangata Hawaiki Grant
This grant showcases the mahi, innovation and leadership our Tangata Whenua and Tangata Pasifika tauira demonstrate at Te Herenga Waka. This funding model is based on intertwining tangata, ahurea and mātauranga.
When filling an application in for this grant, make sure you outline how your event/movement/wānanga relates to one or more of the following outcomes:
Ahurea – Culture and Identity
Wānanga - Learning, connectivity, and participation
Te Pūtake - Strengthening capability and responsiveness.

Te Aka Tauira – VUWSA and Ngai Tauira are committed to not only delivering financial capability for students at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, but also providing meaningful financial advice and mentorship for students to achieve their goals, projecting their message, and fighting for the issues that matter most to them. We would like to extend the opportunity to applicants to receive mentorship opportunities through the Networks that Te Aka Tauira – VUWSA and Ngai Tauira can provide.
- Once applications are approved, and the offer accepted by the applicant, we will begin searching for a mentor or mentor group that best fits the applicant's purpose and vision.
Mentorship opportunities can provide support, advice, a relationship to build and flourish ideas, and the chance to widen the scope and network for your group, movement, event and issue. Taking these opportunities, we hope that applicants will feel supported and
